“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” —F. Scott Fitzgerald

Autumn is our favourite season. Everything seems so perfect after a hot busy summer. Nature puts a fantastic show, ‘’the year’s last, loveliest smile.” – Trees displaying mesmerizing colours, the abundance of perfectly ripped food (vegetables) and perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold, all the reasons to love the fall.

It is also the perfect season to get a new look into your wardrobe. What about your skin?

Well, our skin, is part of the autumn transformation as well. With the fall bringing in cooler weather, air humidity drops affecting our skin hydration levels.

Not only this, but after a hot, sunny summer our skin bears the marks of the sunny days. Pigmentation from excessive tanning and inflammation from those long party nights.

What does this mean for your skin?

The colder, dryer air combined with the dry heat from the radiators results for drier skin. It’s the ideal setup for appearance of skin conditions as dry, sensitive, itchy skin. In worst case scenario even eczema.

The weather changes impact our skin barrier that protects us from the environment, making it more fragile and damaging it. Therefore, its important to help our skin restore its natural health and ability to keep us safe from all external damaging factors, including pollution. If left untreated the conditions might lead to more profound damage causing inflammation, sensitivity and redness and premature ageing.

So, as nature changes so should your treatments and home care routine.

Here are few advices to keep your skin healthy and radiant during the transition to the colder seasons. With few smart changes in your routine and well-chosen treatments, you can happily enjoy the charm of the lovely fall.

Home care routine

Cleansing

Use a cleanser, suitable for your skin condition. We recommend, if you haven’t done it already, using a gentle, mildly hydrating cleanser. It should be effective not only in removing impurities and keeping your skin clean, but in hydrating and nourishing your skin as well.

It’s essential for your cleanser to be effective in removing the dead cells and clearing your pores. This will allow all the nourishing serums and hydrators to reach the damaged layers and help to its recovery.

Hydrating and moisturise

You guessed well. The next step is to choose an effective hydrator and moisturiser. Dry skin means your skin needs to replenish its water content and the best ingredient to help with that is hyaluronic acid. In case you didn’t know, hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our body. It binds moisture to the skin level, effectively delivering surface hydration.

We recommend opting for a serum that has the right combination of HA size molecule that can penetrate deeper into the epidermis. A good quality hyaluronic serum is easily absorbed by your skin, leaving it feeling supple and smooth. If your serum leaves your skin stick and greasy, then is time for a change. We recommend the HA Intensifier, for achieving that natural appearance of plumpness, smoothness, and firmness.

If your moisturizer feels that is not leaving your skin hydrated enough, it’s time to change a gear and add a richer texture moisturiser. The ideal moisturiser should restore and maintain the hydration in your skin in these colder days. Make sure the product you choose is suitable for your skin type and preferable have natural extracts and essential oils.

Vitamin C

There are so many studies that highlight the importance and benefits of having this amazing antioxidant so you must have one in your routine. For the benefits it brings, some are calling it a world star product. It provides a wide range of benefits from anti-ageing to reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. With rising levels of pollution in our surrounding environment, Vitamin C provides the needed high level of protection. Its one of the most powerful and effective antioxidants.

We always recommend products that have strong scientific research to back up its claims and in our case, we opted for the Skinceuticals products for their ground breaking antioxidants research.

SPF

Always wear SPF! We can’t recommend this enough. A good SPF is not only your first anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle line of defence. It also keeps you safe and protected against the risk of developing skin cancer.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be sunny to get burned. Even on a cloudy day, the sun’s UV (ultra violet) radiation is present.

So, do your research and make sure you get the best quality SPF possible to protect you against both UVA and UVB. It’s worth all the investment!

This Fall treatment routine

If you feel you have neglected your cleansing routine during the summer and your skin needs a deeper, thorough cleansing we recommend an advance deep cleanse. It’s our favorite treatment when it comes to giving your skin a clean, fresh start of the new season. Together with the deep cleansing your skin will also receive a protective layer of hydration and vitamin C protection. The best cocktail for a healthy radiant skin.

What about having 6 facials into one? The Hydrafacial treatment does exactly that. With the power of Vortex-Fusion technology it cleanses, extracts, exfoliates, hydrates, fuses and protects your skin. The treatment will deliver an amazing cocktail of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides. It will help hydrate, protect and maximize the glow, freshness and vitality of your skin. Now you see why we love this treatment.

It will offer the hydration, balance and protection your skin needs in the new fall, in the same time being as gentle as possible with your skin.

The sunny days might be long gone by now, but for some of us, the sunspots are the memory marks that are still with us. The fall is the best time to start removing these unwanted signs of sun burn.

This is the ideal period to start your chemical peel course. These treatments will target your damaged skin layers, where the pigmentation occurs triggering their exfoliation and making way for a new, healthy skin. We recommend to have a prior consultation with an expert to asses the best peel to suit your condition. Though superficial and medium peels don’t pose a health risk, each skin is different. Therefore an expert assessment will make sure there is no contraindication or safety risk involved with you undergoing the treatment.

Of course, less sun exposure, makes it the ideal period to get rid of that unwanted hair. Fall is the right time to plan the long postponed laser hair removal course  or restart your last laser hair removal sessions.
